ACCUBID LAUNCHES VOICE/DATACOM DATABASE

After two years, thousands of man-hours in development, consultation with numerous manufacturers and input from many installers, Accubid announces the release of a voice/datacom database for its estimating and billing programs.

A database specifically designed for data cabling and fiber optics, and similar in setup to an electrical components database, it contains catalogs from major manufacturers: AMP, Belden, Lucent, Panduit, Nordx, Krone and Siecor. More than 21,000 parts in various product categories are preloaded and ready to use: connectors, panels, cables, boxes, cords and splicing blocks. It includes not only the labor units, but also labor factoring and material sort codes for estimating and project management. Additional parts can be easily added by the user. And common assemblies can be created to save even more time. The voice/datacom database is suitable for communications, data networks, telephone, voice systems and fiber-optic installations. In conjunction with an Accubid estimating program, it becomes a powerful tool. Contractors and installers can now use Accubid estimating products to estimate quickly, easily and accurately, be productive and profitable and manage and schedule their voice/datacom work. The database and programs are easy to learn right out of the box, and intuitive to use.

With this voice/datacom database, Accubid can now provide the estimating solution for data communications and fiber-optic networks.

BICSI AND BRITISH FORM AGREEMENT

TAMPA, Fla. — The Telecommunications Industry Association (TIA) of Great Britain and BICSI, an international telecommunications association, made a formal recognition of their agreement to promote further growth and development of the telecommunications industries of Great Britain and the United States. Jay Warmke, executive director of BICSI, and Allan Cobb, director general of TIA-Great Britain, executed the agreement at the BICSI 2001 Winter Conference in Orlando, Fla. “The BICSI board of directors welcomes this opportunity to form a closer relationship with Britain's premiere trade association,” Warmke said. “This agreement reflects BICSI's goal to foster better telecommunication services around the globe.

“Sixteen delegates from TIA-Great Britain traveled to Orlando to network and build relationships with their BICSI counterparts. BICSI's annual conference offered opportunities for the TIA members to see BICSI's educational courses, technical publications, conference presentations, and to visit industry exhibits. TIA members were able to observe the administration of the exam for the prestigious RCDD (Registered Communications Distribution Designer) and RCDD/LAN designation. Since 1998, BICSI has offered educational opportunities in several European countries. In July 2001, BICSI will present its 2001 Europe Conference in Brighton, U.K. This three-day infrastructure design conference will include pre-conference BICSI design courses, the RCDD exam, conference seminars and morning and evening exhibit presentations.

BICSI's Europe office is located in Colchester, U.K., and provides services to the more than 600 BICSI members throughout Europe. For more information, contact BICSI by phone at (800) 242-7405 or (813) 979-1991 or by e-mail at [email protected]
