Charles (“Chuck”) Oertli, chairman of Guarantee Electrical Co., has been honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award from the March of Dimes and the St. Louis building community. The award was presented May 30 at the Chase-Park Hotel during the 2002 Building the Community Awards program, benefiting the March of Dimes.
Oertli was recognized for his “service and dedication to lighting the neighborhoods and lives of people throughout St. Louis” during his 50-year career. A video, incorporating comments from colleagues, competitors and friends, was shown to the 500-plus-person audience.
A native of St. Louis, Oertli earned his bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from the University of Colorado in 1952 before joining General Electric's Test Engineer Program. In 1954 he joined Guarantee Electrical Co., becoming president in 1972. Active in the Missouri Society of Professional Engineers (MSPE), Oertli also served as St. Louis chapter president in 1975.
