Siemens Corp. has named Aubert Martin president and chief executive officer of Siemens Energy & Automation Inc. (SE&A).

Martin previously served as the global president of the motion controls division of Siemens Automation & Drives group. Martin will be based at the SE&A headquarters in Alpharetta, Ga. Martin succeeds Richard Buzun, who is retiring.

“Under the leadership of Aubert Martin, Siemens' motion controls business captured the number-one position worldwide,” said Klaus Kleinfeld, president and chief executive officer of Siemens Corp. “He brings to our U.S. organization the proven leadership and business acumen needed to drive SE&A to the top of the increasingly competitive industrial and construction sectors.”

Martin began his career with Siemens in 1967 and has held various positions in engineering, sales and marketing, and business development in the company's Automation & Drives business units. Prior to his last assignment, Martin led the high-speed trains division of Siemens Transportation Systems headquartered in Erlangen, Germany.

In his new position, Martin will be responsible for all of SE&A's staff functions, subsidiaries and business operations in the United States. The company manufactures and markets a wide variety of electrical and electronic equipment and systems in the industrial and construction market segments.

In the U.S., SE&A employs more than 10,500 workers in roughly 40 manufacturing, assembly, and distribution facilities. In the industrial markets, SE&A provides factory automation, motors and drives, motion control, integrated systems and solutions, and technical services.

In the construction market, SE&A provides residential distribution equipment, circuit protection components and power distribution equipment and solutions.

Buzun has been the president and CEO of SE&A since October 2000. He joined the company in 1994, and had a number of posts including that of executive vice president and chief operating officer with responsibility for all operating divisions of SE&A.

“I want to thank Richard for his contributions to Siemens and wish him the best of luck,” Kleinfeld said. “Under his direction, the business performance of SE&A has improved. He leaves the company well-positioned for even greater success in the future.”
