The correct answer is: d) 20

The provisions of Art. 480 apply to all stationary installations of batteries. As per Sec. 480.7(B) [Vented Alkaline-Type Batteries], "Cells with covers sealed to containers of non-conductive, heat-resistant material shall require no additional insulation support. Cells in containers of conductive material shall be installed in trays of non-conductive material with not more than 20 cells (24 volts, nominal) in the series circuit in any one tray."
