Margiotta Electric, Inc.
New Orleans
Founded 1910

In New Orleans, the founder of Margiotta Electric traveled to work by streetcar. With his toolbox in one hand and his ladder in the other, he provided electrical service to his clients in the French Quarter and nearby neighborhoods.

In 1910, V.J. Margiotta opened his electrical service company in a small duplex on Phillip Street, where he lived on one side and worked out of the other. He then brought his two sons —Anthony (A.J.) and Harry — on board and renamed the company, “V.J. Margiotta and Sons.”

In the 1960s, Vincent fell ill, and A.J. and Harry took over the business. A decade later, A.J.’s three sons — Vincent, Larry and Joe — began working alongside their dad and uncle during their teenage years. In 1987, this third generation began running the business and incorporated the firm as Margiotta Electric, Inc. Vincent’s son, Anthony, now also works for the business, as does A.J.’s daughter, Jennie.

The electrical contractor is now one of the oldest companies in the New Orleans area, and its crew of electricians can take on everything from simple residential service calls to the renovation and rebuilding of large commercial spaces in the French Quarter and the greater metropolitan area of New Orleans.

While times have changed, the company remains family-owned and operated as it trains the fourth generation.

“While the electrical profession has grown and changed dramatically through the years, Margiotta Electric remains committed to quality electrical work for our customers,” says Lawrence “Larry” Margiotta, president of Margiotta Electric, Inc.
