Independent electrical contractors and industry professionals from across the country are expected to turn out in record numbers for the IEC's 44th Annual National Convention & Exposition to be held Oct. 1-4 in Las Vegas at the Rio All-Suites Casino.

“We are looking forward to the largest gathering of merit shop contractors in IEC's history,” says Jim Thurman, IEC's national president. “I hope all IEC members will look on attending this meeting as an important investment in both their business and personal lives.”

According to Thurman, this year's convention, which centers around the theme “Building the Team,” promises something for everyone. Attendees can learn the latest from the VDV market, get fresh ideas on how to improve their bottom line, meet top electrical and communications contractors, and learn how the association is changing to meet members' needs.

In the keynote session, “Chicken Soup for the Electrical Contractor's Soul,” scheduled for 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 2, Dan Clark will discuss his recovery from a paralyzing injury that cut his football career short. An internationally recognized speaker, entertainer, songwriter/recording artist, and New York Times best-selling author, Clark will share his inspirational life story and talk about finding happiness in your professional and personal life.

The IEC Expo 2001 will give attendees access to more than 100 electrical and communications vendors and their newest products and services. Held all day Tuesday, Oct. 2, in the Rio Pavilion, the Expo will allow attendees to meet industry partners, collect promotional merchandise, and see the best and the brightest apprentices in the country compete in the IEC National Wire-Off Competition.

If you're looking for a single source for your electrical and voice/data/video needs, the IECU general session, “The Future is Now — Voice/Data/Video,” scheduled for 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. on Oct. 3, is for you. Attend this session to learn where the electrical industry is going and how to prepare for VDV opportunities.
