What it is: S14L LED cluster lamps, which hide solid-state technology under incandescent dressings. With an Edison screw and a hard polycarbonate globe that's tougher than frosted glass, these lamps from LEDtronics can go anywhere standard light bulbs can and even a few places they can't. And despite their little light source — 18 LEDS sprout from a center stalk — these surprisingly bright lights provide up to 56 lumens. Use them for signage or daylighting, but forget stringing them on the Christmas tree.
