EDF EN Canada Begins Construction of Solar PV Power Project in Ontario

June 18, 2009
The electricity produced will provide local electricity service via connections to the Hydro One distribution grid

EDF EN Canada, an EDF Energies Nouvelles, Paris, company, has started construction of a 23.4MW solar photovoltaic (PV) power project in the southeast of Arnprior, Ontario. Consisting of more than 300,000 solar panels, the solar PV power project will generate clean electricity for nearly 7,000 homes during peak times when the province's power demand is high.

The Arnprior Solar Project is being developed as two installations under the government of Ontario's Standard Offer Program, which encourages renewable energy production to help replace coal-fired generation.
