Holliston, Mass.-based Wayne J. Griffin Electric is nearing the completion of its electrical installation work at two Armed Forces Reserve Center projects, located in Tuscaloosa, Ala., and Alexandria, Ala.
In Tuscaloosa, new construction will result in a 71,000-square-foot training center, 13,000-square-foot vehicle maintenance shop and 1,200-square-foot storage area. The Griffin Electric team is responsible for installing several systems on-site, including interior distribution, lightning protection, CATV distribution, radio and public address, in addition to, interior fire alarm and mass notification. Also included in the installation work was an underground electrical distribution and exterior telecommunications system. All switchboards and switchgear were also part of the electrical contract, as well as, interior and exterior lighting. Leading the project is general contractor GSC Construction, Inc., Augusta, Ga., along with architect/electrical engineer Mason & Hanger, Lexington, Ky.
The Pelham Range project in Alexandria consists of constructing a 32,000-square-foot, two-story facility. Griffin Electric is responsible for providing temporary power and lighting onsite, as well as, electrical and telecommunications services. Additionally, a number of systems are being installed by the team, including lightning protection, access control, fire alarm/mass notification, intercom, emergency power and photovoltaic (PV).The construction team comprises general contractor Baggette Construction, Inc., Decatur, Ala., architect JMR Architecture, Montgomery, Ala., and electrical engineer McCarter Engineering, Anniston, Ala.
