Kaiser Electric Constructing New Six-Level Parking Structure in Columbia, Mo.

Kaiser Electric has begun work on a $12 million, multi-level parking structure in downtown Columbia, Mo.

Construction is underway on a new $12 million, multi-level parking structure in downtown Columbia, Mo. The six-level garage is being built on Short Street and Walnut and will include 410 parking spaces that will be leased to nearby Stephens College, businesses, residents, and a new Double Tree by Hilton Hotel at Broadway and Short streets. The city plans to use funds from its parking utility fund in addition to budgeted funds to construct the garage.  

Kaiser Electric is the electrical contractor on the project and will be installing the LED lighting, power distribution, closed-circuit television, fire alarm system, and emergency phones throughout the garage.

Twelve feet on the east side of Short Street will be closed for construction, which is expected to be completed in July 2013. Killian Construction of Springfield, Mo., is the general contractor on the project.
