City of Industry, Calif.-based Kim Lighting, a manufacturer of outdoor architectural lighting, recently launched its GreenWise initiative aimed at helping commercial building owners, specifiers, and contractors reduce energy costs, address environmental concerns, and improve sustainability without sacrificing productivity. The program — which is part of a multi-brand marketing initiative from Kim Lighting parent company Hubbell Lighting, Inc. — demonstrates how reducing lighting energy consumption without sacrificing illumination can be affordably achieved.
According to Raleigh, N.C.-based management consultant FMI’s 2008 U.S. Construction Overview, the three largest segments for non-residential green building construction are offices, education, and healthcare, which will account for more than 80% of the total non-residential green construction in 2008. The GreenWise initiative will initially focus on lighting retrofits in these three market segments, as well as government and manufacturing/industrial/distribution.
