Tips for Preventing Improper Electrical Cord Use

Officials share best practices for preventing residential fires due to electrical cord misuse.

Nearly 10% of fires are started by misusing electrical cords, reports WSMV -TV recently on its website. In fact, according to the Tennessee Department of Commerce and Insurance, "electrical equipment accounted for 9.51 percent of all structure fires and 14.38 percent of all fire deaths in Tennessee from 2012 to 2016."
