To date, 26 states have commenced their respective process to update the statute or administrative rule through which the NEC is adopted to reference the 2014 edition. The 2014 Massachusetts Electrical Code (based on the 2014 NEC) became effective on January 1, 2014. In a couple of states, the update is from the 2008 to the 2014 edition.
