KJWW Engineering Consultants, which recently ranked No. 13 on EC&M’s 2013 Top 40 List of Electrical Design Firms, and its design team partners have won a Healthcare Facilities Symposium Distinction Award for the Palos Community Hospital Hospitaller Pavilion in Palos Heights, Illinois.
A Team Award for the project was presented at the symposium Oct. 2 to KJWW, Palos Community Hospital, Matthei & Colin Associates, The Boldt Company and Pepper Construction.
The Distinction Awards recognize design teams, projects and individuals who have made a profound contribution to the healthcare design industry. The Team Award focuses on a project team that has worked together to change the face of healthcare design through innovation, creativity, efficiency and teamwork.
The Hospitaller Pavilion is a 426,000-square-foot, $159 million addition which opened in March. It features a new main entrance to the hospital and state-of-the-art surgical and intensive care suites, replacing those built almost 40 years ago. A new Center for Short Stay Care provides convenient access to outpatient services, while the bed pavilion comprised of 192 private patient rooms enhances patient comfort and care.
The addition is the latest component in the hospital’s $420-million investment in a series of construction projects designed to transform and update the campus.
