NEMA’s Motors Shipments Index decreased by 7.2% on a quarter to quarter basis during the second quarter of 2013. Still, the index is up 6.8% higher on a year-over-year basis and registered the second highest reading in the history of the series.
Fractional HP motors continue to be the driving segment of growth in the index. Inflation adjusted shipments of fractional horsepower motors showed a gain of 13.0%, while integral HP motors dipped 1.9% compared to the same period last year.NEMA is the association of electrical equipment and medical imaging manufacturers, founded in 1926 and headquartered in Arlington, Virginia.
