The South Dakota Electrical Commission will hold a public hearing on April 17, 2014, in Pierre, S.D., to consider adoption and amendment of the 2014 National Electrical Code and update the reference to the 2012 International Building Code. Other items to be covered include: clarify a statutory reference regarding the maintenance of electrical license; document the changes to allowable continuing education courses and the number of hours allowed; change the bonding inspection notification requirement for swimming pools; clarify the definition of patient care space; require tamper resistant receptacle protection be used in residential housing units moved to new locations; and repealing of a rule requiring specific wiring methods for seasonal dwelling as it is addressed in the NEC.
