TIA Issues Addendum to Generic Telecommunications Bonding and Grounding for Customer Premises Standard

Nov. 5, 2013
This standard was developed to address a need by installers to use existing building infrastructure as the TBB or the GE.

The Telecommunications Industry Association has released a new document, TIA-607-B-2 Generic Telecommunications Bonding and Grounding (Earthing) for Customer Premises Addendum 2 – Structural Metal.

TIA-607-B-2 specifies additional requirements for a telecommunications bonding and grounding system when using structural metal in place of the telecommunications bonding backbone (TBB) or grounding equalizer (GE). This standard was developed to address a need by installers to use existing building infrastructure as the TBB or the GE. It was developed to accommodate large systems and to become more in alignment with other Internationally recognized standards.

TIA-607-B-2 was formulated under the cognizance of the TIA TR-42 Telecommunications Cabling Systems, TR-42.16 Premises Telecommunications Bonding & Grounding (607).
