By eliminating low- and no-value tasks from your PM procedures, you free up that precious resource known as technician time. The good news is there's even more low-hanging fruit ready for you to pick.

Consider what happens when a technician goes out to do PM work, and then only after arriving at the equipment realizes the job requires something that’s back at the shop. This means a wasted round trip to the shop. The low hanging fruit here is you can eliminate that waste by listing the needed tools, test equipment, and supplies in checklist form in the PM. Technicians need to understand they don’t leave to do the PM without those items checked off.
