The Newton-Evans Research Co., Ellicott City, Md., began a major research initiative in January to study the role of distributed generation (DG) in national and worldwide business plans.
The study, which continues through the end of this month, asks utility officials responsible for DG programs for their thoughts and/or experiences on 30 issues. These issues include metering, obstacles to adoption, safety issues, environmental concerns, standards for grid connection, payback times, backup requirements, and more. The survey results will be included in a final three-volume report.
The final report will also include a market outlook, plus assessments and forecasts of DG investments and commercial and industrial spending. The third volume will profile 50 domestic and international suppliers of DG equipment.
