National Field Services has announced today its expansion to serve customers in the Gulf Coast region of Texas and the Central Texas (Austin and San Antonio-area) markets.
National Field Services is opening its Gulf Coast branch in the Houston area. The new division joins the company’s flagship Dallas-Fort Worth-area operation in Lewisville, Texas, as well as its newly opened Central Texas branch.
Regarding the two new branches, company co-founder and president Doug Powell said, “It’s been a strategic goal to be a top-tier provider of electrical testing and maintenance in the Texas region. These expansions position us to serve customers across the state.”
The new Gulf Coast branch is headed by electrical testing industry veteran Shannon Palmer, who brings 20-plus years of technical and managerial experience, along with deep industry connections, to the new enterprise. Palmer joined National Field Services after a competitor electrical testing company at which he held a senior management position redirected its focus to serving customers in another sector.
The Gulf Coast branch will focus on serving the needs of customers in the petrochemical industry and already is in the process of negotiating several customer contracts. The new branch gives National Field Services, whose client base is primarily utilities and large commercial customers, access to an entirely new market. “There is definitely a significant share of the oil, gas and chemical industry market here that can be captured,” Palmer noted. “We can competitively operate in this market and be very successful at it.”
One competitive edge, according to Palmer, will be National Field Services’ affiliation with National Switchgear, a major supplier of used and surplus power distribution equipment, also based in Lewisville. “A lot of clients in the Houston area have aging equipment,” Palmer observed. “With National’s stock of surplus electrical equipment, combined with our field service expertise, we’ll be able to respond faster whenever a client has a vintage piece of equipment that is working improperly or not working at all.”
Leading the new Central Texas branch office is Operations Manager Matt LaCoss, who brings nearly 20 years of experience in the testing and supervising of high voltage testing and maintenance of power distribution and transmission systems to the company. LaCoss joined National Field Services after a competitor electrical testing company, at which he served as a superintendent of field services, redirected its focus to serving customers in another sector.
“We are pretty amped up,” LaCoss said, “to be part of a company that has a good value system and gives us a really tremendous opportunity for growth and to do the things we do best.”
The new Central Texas branch is establishing customer relationships in Central Texas, with a particular focus on utility, industrial and large commercial clients. “We’ve got some very knowledgeable and experienced technicians,” LaCoss added, “and they can tackle almost anything that’s out there. We can do industrial; we can do transmission; we can do distribution; we can do commercial.”
