  • Jackson, Miss.-based Stuart C. Irby Co., a subsidiary of Sonepar USA, Paris, recently acquired Burmeister Electric Co., Minneapolis, Minn., and High Voltage Testing Laboratories (HVTL), Fargo, N.D. Burmeister is a full line stocking distributor and manufacturers’ agent offering products to the electric utilities for their transmission and distribution requirements, and HVTL is a fully certified testing laboratory offering high-voltage testing services and sales of personal protective equipment (PPE) safety products used by electric utility lineman and field service personnel in the contractor and industrial markets.

  • Entrepreneur recently named Waco, Texas-based Mr. Electric Corp. to its 2007 Franchise 500 list. The company ranked 294 on the list.

  • Irvine, Calif.-based Toshiba Surveillance & IP Video Products Group recently formed a technological alliance with Montreal-based Genetec, Inc. The ongoing collaboration calls for the two companies to jointly develop software that integrates Toshiba IP Network cameras with Genetec IP video surveillance, IP access control, and license plate recognition products.
