  • EMCOR Group, Norwalk, Conn., recently announced its San Diego-based Dynalectric subsidiary has received a contract for the installation of electrical systems from the U.S. Department of the Navy in connection with the conversion of the Berth Lima facility at Naval Air Station (NAS) North Island in San Diego. Dynalectric’s scope of work includes: making repairs and upgrades to the existing and industrial power systems and installation of utility switchgear and control systems, dockside power-connection stations, interior/exterior lighting, digital fire alarm reporting systems, cable television, underground electrical distribution, and shore power substations.

  • Leviton, Little Neck, N.Y., will relocate its global corporate headquarters to Long Island’s Suffolk County on June 15. Leviton outfitted the four-story, 140,000-sq-ft facility in Melville, N.Y., with green building materials and systems, including a variety of Leviton’s own devices and controls.

  • Real Goods Solar, Campbell, Calif., has signed a contract to design and install solar electric systems totaling 3.65MW for the Fremont Union High School District in Sunnyvale, Cupertino and west San Jose, Calif. The new solar systems will be constructed as carports at all five high schools in the district and are expected to save district taxpayers more than $12 million in the total cost of electricity over the next 25 years. The five systems will contribute enough electricity to cover about 45% of the power usage of each school. This solar program, exceeding $30 million, is believed to be the largest direct purchase by a secondary school system in North America, financed by a portion of a $198 million school bond approved by the district’s voters in June 2008.
