The National Safety Council , Itasca, Ill., has named Square D Services from Schneider Electric, Palatine, Ill., as a winner of its Occupational Excellence Achievement Award for 2009. The council recognizes companies, units, and/or facilities that have reported injuries and illnesses that involved days away from work equal to or less than 50% of the Bureau of Labor Statistics' (BLS) rating for their six-digit industry classification (NAICS) code and have had no fatalities during a calendar year, January 1 through December 31.

New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA), Albany, N.Y., has announced Ace Energy as winner of the first New York Energy $mart Commercial Lighting Program ESCo competition, for most projects completed in the first quarter of 2009. The new ESCo category includes companies that provide full service lighting upgrades, from facility auditing to lighting design and installation.
