The National Safety Council , Itasca, Ill., has named Square D Services from Schneider Electric, Palatine, Ill., as a winner of its Occupational Excellence Achievement Award for 2009
  • The National Safety Council , Itasca, Ill., has named Square D Services from Schneider Electric, Palatine, Ill., as a winner of its Occupational Excellence Achievement Award for 2009. The council recognizes companies, units, and/or facilities that have reported injuries and illnesses that involved days away from work equal to or less than 50% of the Bureau of Labor Statistics' (BLS) rating for their six-digit industry classification (NAICS) code and have had no fatalities during a calendar year, January 1 through December 31.

  • HID Laboratories, Menlo Park, Calif., has signed Green Energy USA Bakersfield, Calif., as a reseller of HID's SmartPod Luminaire lighting system. "We are impressed with HID Labs' innovative ability to incorporate advanced computer controls into its lighting solutions," says Don Freeze, CEO of Green Energy USA. "The HID SmartPod system represents an entirely fresh approach to the challenges of reducing lighting energy consumption and cost. We are extremely pleased to partner with HID Labs to make SmartPod solutions available to businesses in Bakersfield, Kern County and the Central Valley."

  • New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA), Albany, N.Y., has announced Ace Energy as winner of the first New York Energy $mart Commercial Lighting Program ESCo competition, for most projects completed in the first quarter of 2009. The new ESCo category includes companies that provide full service lighting upgrades, from facility auditing to lighting design and installation.

  • Fluke Networks, Everett, Wash., recently signed a definitive agreement to acquire AirMagnet, Sunnyvale, Calif. The company expects the acquisition to create a global leader in Wi-Fi testing and further strengthen Fluke Networks’ worldwide leadership in test and analysis for networks, regardless of media type.

  • Day & Zimmerman, Philadelphia, has recently been awarded a multi-year contract by PSEG Nuclear, Newark, N.J. Scope includes full-service maintenance and modification work, as well as selected project work at their Salem and Hope Creek Nuclear Stations in Hancocks Bridge, N.J.
