Austin, Texas-based Active Power received its single largest order from one of the world’s largest Internet search engine providers for twelve 1200kVA CleanSource uninterruptible power supply (UPS) systems. This 12MW sale uses 48 flywheels and will be deployed at one of the customer’s newest domestic data center facilities to protect mission critical IT equipment from power outages. System deliveries are scheduled for fourth quarter 2008.

The residential division of Palmer Electric Co., Winter Park, Fla., has secured five contracts with Park Square Homes, Orlando, Fla., for electrical contracting services at communities in Central Florida. In Orlando, Palmer is wiring single-family homes in Waters Edge at Lake Nona and in Newberry Park. Palmer is also working in two gated resort communities in Kissimmee, Encantada, and Bellavida. At Prairie Lake Reserve in Ocoee, Fla., Palmer is handling wiring for Park Square Homes' collection of custom townhomes. The company is supplying and installing lighting fixtures for all communities through its sister company, Showcase Lighting, Winter Park, Fla.

Borrego Solar Systems, a San Francisco-based designer and installer of grid-connected solar electric power systems, will expand its New England operations in Connecticut to meet increasing demand for solar energy. Since opening its current New England office in July 2007, the company has experienced significant growth, installing more than 50 residential, commercial, and public-sector solar electric systems throughout the region.
