Company hopes to give industrial, commercial, and contractor customers throughout the Northeast access to next day delivery from over $10 million in electrical and industrial inventory

Horizon Solutions, a distributor of electrical, industrial, and safety products and services across the northeast, has announced plans to open a Central Distribution Center (CDC) in Guilderland, N.Y., giving industrial, commercial, and contractor customers throughout the Northeast access to next day delivery from over $10 million in electrical and industrial inventory. With this new CDC, Horizon will be able to offer a wider selection of stock inventory, together with industry leading service levels, to their entire customer base. The facility is planned to open this August.

The new location — with approximately 80,000 sq ft of space — will house the main distribution center for Horizons' operations across the Northeast, as well as its eastern New York State branch offices and a new customer training facility. Horizon customers will have access to one of the largest inventories in the Northeast for a wide range of products from the leading manufacturers of automation, electrical, industrial, and safety products.

The new CDC is just one of several investments Horizon is making in 2010 to position itself to better respond to customer needs and deliver outstanding products, services and support.

"We are financially strong, and we see an opportunity to make investments that will continue to enhance our ability to deliver the very best solutions for our customers’ automation, electrical, industrial, and safety requirements,”" says Jim Newton, president and CEO of Horizon Solutions.

In addition to the new distribution center, Horizon’s 2010 Investment plan includes:

  • Expansion of Horizon Lighting and Energy Services Group to meet customer demands for increased energy efficiency.
  • Sales Office Expansion: new sales offices in Boston and Utica N.Y.
  • Technology Investment: Logistics/warehousing technology at the new CDC and upgraded voice-over-Internet phone systems will help Horizon Solutions improve service levels and react quickly to customer needs.
  • Safety solutions: Significantly expanded product and service capabilities to help customers understand and address safety issues.
