NEMA Publishes Guides for Electric Fire Pump Controllers

The National Electrical Manufacturers Association (NEMA) has published NEMA ICS 14-2010, "Application Guide for Electric Fire Pump Controllers" and NEMA ICS 15-2011, "Instructions for the Handling, Installation, Operation, and Maintenance for Electric Fire Pump Controllers Rated Not More than 600V"

Rosslyn, Va.-based National Electrical Manufacturers Association (NEMA) has published NEMA ICS 14-2010, "Application Guide for Electric Fire Pump Controllers" and NEMA ICS 15-2011, Instructions for the Handling, Installation, Operation, and Maintenance for Electric Fire Pump Controllers Rated Not More than 600V."

NEMA ICS 14 is intended to provide general guidelines for the proper application of fire pump controllers. The emphasis of the guidelines is to stress those considerations specific to fire pump installations.

The guidelines in NEMA ICS 15 are provided to facilitate movement, handling, installation, and maintenance of electric fire pump controllers at the job site and to help avoid personal injury and equipment damage during these processes. The information includes handling, storage, installation of conduits, cables, and wires, pre-energization and energization, care and maintenance.
