VICTORIA, BC (April 24, 2002) - Power Measurement, a leading provider of enterprise energy management systems, has extended the communications capability of its ION® intelligent metering and control devices by offering OpenLine I/O modules from Grayhill, Inc (www.grayhill.com), a leading designer and manufacturer of quality electronic components and control systems. With OpenLine I/O modules, ION meters can now interface to more equipment than ever before. A single ION 7500™, ION 7600™, ION 8400™, or ION 8500™ meter can link to over a hundred analog and digital OpenLine I/O modules, to monitor or control conditions such as transformer temperatures, generator fuel levels, equipment status, and other utilities such as water, gas or steam.

In addition to processing data from the OpenLine I/O modules, the ION meters can use their Modbus master capability to receive information directly from an existing network of Modbus slave devices. The Modbus system data can then be collected, analyzed, and displayed locally on the meter, and then passed upstream to an RTU/SCADA system. In this way, each ION meter can help to provide an economical and powerful energy management solution.

Grayhill OpenLine I/O modules are available from Power Measurement, as part of a full enterprise energy management solution. For more information, call Power Measurement toll free at 866-466-7627 or visit the Power Measurement web site at www.pwrm.com.
