Hint: Lack of communication

There may have been a lack of communication, but there was certainly no lack of communication cables left behind by this installer. Leaving a giant bundle of cables coiled up above the suspended ceiling tile is a surprise nobody wants to find. It’s surprising this bundle of cables hasn’t crashed down on someone’s head.
Section 800. 24 requires communications cables to be installed in the proverbial “neat and workmanlike manner.” This Code section also has a few important informational notes to help installers figure out exactly what “neat and workmanlike” may mean for communications circuits. Section 800.24 also requires compliance with Sec. 300.11. For a non-fire-rated ceiling assembly such as this, Sec. 300.11(B)(2) prohibits the ceiling assembly from being used for support of any wiring. An independent means of support must be installed for these cables. For fire-rated assemblies, Sec. 300.11(B)(1) has the same general requirement.
Too many cables piled on top of the suspended ceiling may also create a violation of Sec. 800.21 if cables deny access to equipment.
