$14 Million Settlement Reached in California Teens’ Electrocution Lawsuit
Dec. 19, 2019
The families of two teenage boys who were electrocuted when they touched an energized bridge in Dixon, Calif., have settled a lawsuit with the Solano Irrigation District for $14 million, according to a report by abc7news.com.
Jacob Schneider and Jacob Hourmouzus were attempting to rescue a dog that fell into an irrigation canal when they came into contact with electrified metal on the bridge.
The suit alleged that district workers improperly bypassed a circuit breaker that prevented electrical grounding, allowing the bridge to become electrified.
The boys’ families will receive $7 million each, according to Schneider's attorney.
