Schneider Electric, Palatine, Ill., recently announced that its Square D Co. was competitively awarded multiple task orders with Naval Facilities Engineering Command (NAVFAC) for advanced metering projects under Contract N62583-08-D-0137 as part of the Navy’s Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) program. Three task order awards are for the Navy Region Northwest project, with a total value of $31.1 million. Another task order award is for the Marine Corp Base Camp Smedley D. Butler project and is valued at $2.6 million. The work will include designing, procurement, installation, testing, and sustaining of building-level, advanced metering solutions in support of the Energy Policy Act of 2005 and the Energy Independence and Security Act of 2007. The projects will assist the Navy and Marine Corps in cost-effectively allocating and managing energy resources.

Norwalk, Conn.-based EMCOR Group announced that its Dynalectric San Diego subsidiary has received a contract for the installation of electrical systems for two new buildings as part of the expansion project at the San Diego County Operations Center in San Diego. Scope of work includes installing site infrastructure raceways for tel/data, security, and fire alarm systems; extending the County Operations campus loop from the central plant to a new gas switch that feeds the two new four-story, 150,000 square foot office buildings; core and shell electrical construction, including fire alarm system in each building; installation of site lighting in areas adjacent to each building; and installing a 2,000KW emergency generator supplying full load to one of the buildings.

San Diego-based Trade Service announced recently that Cert-In Software Systems, a Bakersville, N.C.-based provider of contractor estimating and business management software, has completed an integration to Supplier Xchange, which provides tools and utilities that customers can use to maintain a tighter control over what price is used to prepare an estimate. Previously, generating a bid price came through the use of an average multiplier that converted the manufacturer’s suggested wholesale price to a bid value. Cert-In can now offer its customers a better method that simplifies all these tasks.

AC Group of Cos. recently announced that the company, including the divisions of AC Oilfield Supply, AC Technologies & Field Services, and AC Environmental, is being merged into Enertia Engineering Ltd., Sherwood Park, Canada. This newly formed company will operate two primary divisions. The first division provides engineering consulting services — arc-flash analysis specialization — focused on oil, gas, utility, mining, and heavy industry. The second division provides manufacturing services for electrical surface equipment, drives, electronics, and specialized technologies for interconnected distributed generation — wind, solar, bio-gas — to utility grids. AC Environmental will continue to run under its original banner.

Gen-Tech, Glendale, Ariz., has expanded its services to include Tucson, Ariz. "Ensuring cost-effective coverage of Tucson and its surrounding areas has been a challenge," says Robert Piske, president, Gen-Tech. "In the past few years our business has grown in the southern part of Arizona with significant captures in service agreements and numerous modular power system sales in Tucson, Ft. Huachuca, and as far out as Yuma. To provide effective service for our growing base of customers, we had to increase our presence."
