Manufacturing Technology Orders Down in June

Aug. 15, 2013
With a year-to-date total of $2,538.55 million, 2013 is down 5.7% compared with 2012 for manufacturing technology orders

According to the latest report from AMT - The Association For Manufacturing Technology, June U.S. manufacturing technology orders totaled $426.83 million. This total, as reported by companies participating in the USMTO program, was down 5.8% from May and down 5.7% when compared with the total of $452.75 million reported for June 2012. With a year-to-date total of $2,538.55 million, 2013 is down 5.7% compared with 2012.

“It’s typical for orders to experience a modest drop going into the summer months, and we’ve seen this lull in six of the past nine summers,” said Douglas K. Woods, AMT president. “It’s important to remember that in the overall picture, this is a very strong order level. Manufacturing is still the key area driving the economy. With durable goods orders at a record level of $244 billion in June, and the Purchasing Managers’ Index at 55, we expect manufacturing technology orders to hold steady through the end of the year.”
