Shaw awarded contract for 600MW power plant

SWEPCO seeks necessary regulatory approvals to build plant

Shreveport, La.-based Southwestern Electric Power Co. (SWEPCO) recently awarded a contract to Baton Rouge, La.-based Shaw Group Inc. to build a new 600MW electric generating plant in Hempstead County, Ark. The facility will use an ultra-supercritical advanced pulverized clean coal combustion technology.

The contract is valued at approximately $700 million.
