Three Seattle City Light employees were injured as they tried to install a ground rod at a Seattle substation last week. The accident triggered a power outage that affected nearly 10,000 customers.

According to a report from King 5 News, the construction crew was installing a ground rod when their equipment caused an electric arc from an underground power line, according to Seattle City Light. One employee was taken the medical center in serious condition after falling 20 feet from a ladder. The man in his 50s suffered a concussion and a shoulder injury. A second worker had first degree burns. A third worker in his 20s suffered cuts and bruises.

The Seattle Fire Twitter account said a transformer had blown.
