Police in Bend, Ore., on Monday received a report from a city resident about a suspicious device that, they said, looked like a pipe bomb, according to a Bend Police Department press release.
Officers from the Bend Police Department responded and located the device. Officers were unable to determine if the device was dangerous so they called the Oregon State Police Bomb Squad in Salem Oregon. The OSP Bomb Squad arrived and rendered the device safe, then it was transported to Salem for further examination to identify it.
After the police press release went public, the department received several replies offering clarification.
