A fire at a commuter rail station in Boston caused delays over the past couple of days. Agencies worked to repair damage from a two-alarm electrical fire in a vault on the tracks.
According to Firehouse, firefighters responded at 6:45 a.m. on Saturday to an electrical fire in a vault containing switching and signal equipment, about 150 yards from the station. The fire was thought to have been caused by a lightning strike.
The fire damaged the Amtrak signaling system, according to WCVB5 in Boston. Delays of up to 30 minutes were reported Monday morning. Commuter rail passengers were to expect several service changes resulting from the damaged signaling system.
