Utility removes last emergency cable from the World Trade Center
On May 23, Consolidated Edison Co., a New York-based utility, marked a major milestone by removing the last of the temporary electrical cable it laid to meet emergency demand after September 11. The utility laid 36 mi. of 13kV cable to restore services to 98% of the 13,000 customers who were left without electricity following the World Trade Center attack. According to Construction.com, the installation of permanent underground electrical installations are now complete and ready to supply summer load in the area.
