The correct answer is: a) 20 AWG

Section 620.12 of the 2011 NEC notes the minimum size conductor requirements for elevator cables. More specifically, as noted in 620.12(A)(1), "For lighting circuits, 14 AWG copper, 20 AWG copper or larger conductors shall be permited in parallel, provided the ampacity is equivalent to at least that of 14 AWG copper."
