The Renewable Energy Association (REA), London, recently expressed dismay with the proposal to delay the increase of business rates on companies that install microgeneration equipment. “Many businesses are looking to install renewable energy equipment to offset their energy purchases,” says Gaynor Hartnell, head of renewable power at REA. “However, companies that follow this route are likely to install equipment well over the size threshold for microgeneration.” Microgeneration refers to equipment that is less than 50kW, considered too small for the majority of onsite commercial applications.
