Paoli, Pa., recently announced the acquisition of Solidstate Controls, Inc., a supplier of uninterruptible power supply (UPS) systems for the process of power generation industries, from Columbus Sales Corp., an affiliate of Marmon Industrial Companies LLC. Ametek paid approximately $36 million for the acquisition.

Located in Columbus, Ohio, Solidstate Controls has about 250 employees and estimated 2002 sales of $45 million. Key markets for Solidstate’s products include oil production, oil refining, chemical, petrochemical, steel, and power generation, including fossil fuel and nuclear power utilities.
