Southwire Acquires General Cable Corp.’s Building Wire Assets

Carrollton, Ga.-based Southwire Co. recently signed an agreement to acquire the building wire assets of General Cable Corp., Highland Heights, Ky. Under the agreement, Southwire will acquire manufacturing facilities in Kingman, Ariz. and Watkinsville, Ga. Under the agreement, Southwire will acquire manufacturing facilities in Kingman, Ariz. and Watkinsville, Ga. Southwire will also acquire manufacturing assets from General Cable’s building wire plant in Plano, Texas. The agreement is contingent upon applicable regulatory approval.

“Southwire believes in the future of its core wire and cable markets and continues to invest whatever is necessary to lead those markets,” Southwire President Stuart Thorn said about the deal.

The acquisition is expected to close by the end of this year.
