  • Atlanta-based Acuity Brands recently acquired substantially all of the assets and assumed certain liabilities of Glendale, Calif. based Lighting Control & Design (LC&D), manufacturer of comprehensive digital lighting controls and software. LC&D offers products and services, ranging from lighting dimming and building interfaces to digital thermostats.

  • Boca Raton, Fla.-based SimplexGrinnell recently passed the rigorous review of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security to earn certification for its security, fire, and life-safety systems integration services under the Support Anti-terrorism by Fostering Effective Technologies (SAFETY) Act. The designation and certification of SimplexGrinnell’s security, fire, and life-safety systems integration services under the SAFETY Act provides important liability protections to the company and its customers in the event of an act of terrorism at a site where the approved technologies have been deployed.

  • Rutherford, N.J.-based SGS Consumer Testing Services has announced that it is the first company to be accredited by the International Accreditation Service (IAS), the Whittier, Calif.-based nonprofit accrediting organization, as a Field Evaluation Body (FEB) qualified to inspect, test and evaluate electrical equipment that lacks a listing mark as required by the Occupation Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJs), and the National Electrical Code (NEC). SGS will conduct on-site inspections to verify regulatory safety and compliance.
