Odenton, Md.-based IEC Chesapeake recently announced that Unirac has donated racking system equipment that IEC Chesapeake will use to demonstrate flush or tilt-mount mounting configurations of solar panels.

“Unirac’s generous material donation enables IEC Chesapeake to deliver hands-on training that gives students a better understanding of what solar installers may use when installing photovoltaic (PV) racking equipment on residential, commercial, and industrial projects,” says Grant Shmelzer, IEC Chesapeake's executive director, who further added that IEC Chesapeake now has the resources necessary to provide hands-on training and labs on PV racking systems to students in the electrical pre-apprenticeship and apprenticeship programs, career and technical education centers, and skill-upgrade continuing education classes.

IEC Chesapeake strives to be a significant resource for training in the renewable energy market with the guidance of its Renewable Energy Committee and the support of leading solar industry manufacturers such as Unirac. The goal is to better serve the needs of the construction industry from entry-level workers to seasoned installers.
