Company plans to open turbine service center

General Electric Co. confirmed that it will open a wind turbine service center in Schnectady, N.Y. The move will create 150 jobs and is hailed by city and county officials as countering years of Schnectady job losses at the company.

The service center will be located at the company’s main complex near downtown, in what GE is calling its Renewables Global Headquarters.
