If you’d like to thank the countless rescue workers in New York for saving lives and searching for survivors at the World Trade Center disaster site, the New York City post office and the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) have designated a post office box for letters of recognition and thanks.

Anyone wanting to contact rescue workers (including firefighters, police officers, and urban search and rescue teams) can send a letter to:

According to FEMA, the mail received will be circulated among firefighters, police officers, and search and rescue personnel and then posted in the living quarters of the FEMA task force members.
