Wayne J. Griffin Electric Completes Electrical Installation Work at Bryant-Denny Stadium

Holliston, Mass.-based Wayne J. Griffin Electric, Inc. recently completed the electrical installation work for the south end zone expansion of Bryant-Denny Stadium at the University of Alabama, Tuscaloosa.

The project, which mirrors the north end zone expansion completed in 2006, has fully enclosed the stadium, adding over 8,600 new seats, in addition to 36 skyboxes, plus an upper concourse, offices, Donors Hall of Fame, and outdoor food and merchandise marketplace. Additionally, two new video scoreboards have been positioned in both corners of the south end zone.

The Griffin Electric team was responsible for the installation of a 15kW, 3,000KVA main electrical service fed from an existing 15kV switch, 600kW backup generator and state-of-the-art lighting control system for this project. Leading the construction team was General Contractor Brasfield & Gorrie, LLC and Architect Davis Architects, Inc., both of Birmingham, Ala. Additionally, Jackson, Renfro & Associates, Birmingham, served as the electrical engineer.

Fulfilling an increasing demand for additional seating at the Crimson Tide games, the south end zone expansion upgrades Bryant-Denny Stadium to the second largest arena in the Southeastern Conference, with capacity at more than 100,000.
