Electric Construction Co. Moves to Larger Space

Jan. 10, 2014
Electric Construction has 70 electricians on staff, and hires about 20 more people during the summer.

Electric Construction Co. has moved from central Sioux Falls, North Dakota, to a larger property in the northeast part of the city. The new location is at 3413 N. Potsdam Ave. The electrical contractor bought the two-acre property and built an office onto the existing shop and warehouse, said Jay Soderquist one of three partners in the company.

The staff made the move earlier this month from 1512 E. 17th St. Electric Construction did not own that property, where it had been for nearly two decades, Soderquist said. Operations were squeezed at that location, he said. Electric Construction has 70 electricians on staff, and hires about 20 more people during the summer.

It's one of the city's oldest shops, founded in 1906, and ranked as the second-largest commercial electrical contractor earlier this year on The List, a feature of the Sioux Falls Business Journal.
