Electrical Problem Shuts Down Iowa School

An electrical problem gave some high school students in Iowa the day off last week. An electrical power outage at a high school in Fort Madison, Ia., was caused by boiler pipes from the tunnel system, according to a news report from the Fort Madison Daily Democrat.

The school's maintenance director said one of the boiler’s pipes broke, which causes a significant amount of humidity, causing steam to evacuate into the electrical circuit room.

“There was unwanted moisture over the electrical system that made breaker fail,” said the director.

It took hours for the maintenance crew to fix the electrical system and the broken pipe. Maintenance dried and reset the electrical system, the report said.
