• Black Box Corp. Announces Merger with England-Based GCS Network Services Ltd.

    Black Box Corp., Lawrence, Pa., recently announced a merger with GCS Network Services Ltd., Northampton, England.     Black Box Corp., Lawrence, Pa., recently announced a merger with GCS Network Services Ltd., Northampton, England.

    “GCS will enhance our ability to provide expert level network infrastructure support and maintenance, particularly in the Northampton area,” says Stephen C. Borley, Black Box's U.K. managing director of on-site services. “Their capabilities and expertise perfectly complement our existing operations and increase our overall U.K. market share.”

    GCS Managing Director Michael J. Peace says, “We are looking forward to being part of the Black Box organization. Our customers will benefit from the technical strengths of Black Box and the strong brand name not only here in the U.K. but also on a European and worldwide basis.”

    Peace will continue to serve as director and general manager of GCS, which will be renamed Black Box Network Services — Northampton Operations.

    The transaction is being accounted for as a purchase at an undisclosed price.

    Black Box and GCS provide technical design, installation, and maintenance services for networking components and systems.
