You may be able to save money in Class I, Class II, and Class III locations by using intrinsically safe apparatus. For example:

  • You can use a general enclosure with intrinsically safe apparatus [504.10(B)].
  • You can use any of the wiring methods suitable for unclassified locations when installing intrinsically safe apparatus [504.20].
