What it is: The HSL3000 solar collector for commercial lighting from Sunlight Direct, LLC in Knoxville, Tenn. It tracks the sun and concentrates direct sunlight into plastic optical fibers, which then transfer the sunlight throughout a building to multiple hybrid luminaires. These luminaires blend natural light with supplemental artificial light. If the system's photosensor does not detect enough sunlight, the level of artificial lighting will automatically adjust to compensate. It may extend the lifetime of halogen bulbs by as much as 20 times, but forget about receiving a voicemail from E.T.
